The use of cartoon imagery to make iconic popart...


There are a very many Pop Artists who have used comic book and cartoon images within their iconic pop art.

One such artist was Andy Warhol. Replicating well known characters such as Mickey Mouse, within his prints and paintings.


Indeed, much of the Warhol iconography was about making real life celebrities appear cartoon like using a bold choice of colours and a wide range of color reproduction techniques. There are very few that created Pop Art so prolifically in such a unique style.

The other main protagonist of the cartoon effect was Roy Lichtenstein, who created little other than broad and clear cartoon style pictures, mocking and replicating life with his bold comic like technique.
